Newark Academy is conducting weekly COVID-19 screenings for students and employees.
This program of high-quality COVID-19 screening testing is possible through a partnership between Newark Academy and Mirimus Clinical Labs of Brooklyn, NY. The test used by Mirimus is a saliva-based RT-PCR that is safe, non-invasive and highly accurate. Testing samples are provided to Mirimus anonymously, using barcodes (that only Newark Academy tracks) to identify samples.
Update: Students and employees who are fully vaccinated are exempt from NA's Saliva Testing Program. Students and employees who are not fully vaccinated are required to participate in weekly saliva testing.
Participation in this testing program is a requirement for on-campus teaching, learning and working.
Our partnership with Mirimus Clinical Labs testing will strengthen our efforts to:
-
Identify COVID-19 cases within the Newark Academy community and reduce the risk of in-school transmission
-
Safely keep Newark Academy open for on-campus teaching, learning and working
-
Provide our community members with assurance that NA is doing everything possible to reduce the risk of in-school transmission
-
Understand and monitor infection levels with our school community

*Mirimus Clinical Labs uses the term presumptive positive when a sample indicates a low load of the coronavirus. Protocols for isolation and quarantine are the same as those outlined for a positive case. The individual will self-isolate as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In keeping with medical rights to privacy, the identity of the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be kept confidential.
